Sidestage view of Page rocking out
Helmet is awesome. I just love this picture.
I figured I’d edit this post for some clarity since I’ve received some emails about this. I met Page a while back at NAAM in Los Angeles, CA. I had asked him to produce an album for my band at the time and he agreed. The band broke up but he used a song of ours on the latest Helmet record entitled “Size Matters”. The song is Track 6 - Unwound I believe.
Anyway, besides the song, I forged a cool friendship with a guy I grew up listening to and emulating. Page is a great friend and one of the most generous music industry people I’ve grown to know. He gave Mike and three of his buddies backstage passes to Rock-am-Ring 2005 in Germany, one of the biggest seasonal festival shows. He’s always had time to shoot the shit with us when we meet up.
Helmet keeps on doing what they do, and they do it well. If you haven’t listened to them, give them a try, and if you have but don’t have the new record … pick it up, there are some awesome songs on it. Just wish Page put “Money Shot” on it. Next time you are at a Helmet show, scream out “money shot” and watch the smirks fly. Thanks everyone.
