    I take it that mac min core duo holds it’s weight with logic pro 7….
    Wander how many plugins and fx it could sustain live.
    Have you been able to use ableton live with it at all?

    Seems like a neat box to carry on stage.

    Thanks for the comment. Actually, this Mac Mini was pre-Intel duo. I would imagine that the Intel chips actually do much better than the model I have. I have an Intel MacBookPro that just screams with Logic.

    I haven’t had the chance to experiment much with Live on the new powerbook though so I can’t comment on the improved performance with it. Ableton was always a little sluggish on the PowerPC so I’ve got to believe its improved tremendously. If you find out, let me know! I’ve been eyeing their new Live 6 product for film scoring.

    Christopher…. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to find someone like yourself who is doing live music… I have been on all the Logic boards and the banter is too deep for me when it comes to the environment…. I ended up using RAX on a live gig this past weekend and forze that sucker in 2 minutes…. Using Ivory, Atmosphere, Electrik Piano, etc…. On a G5 QuadCore with 8gb of ram…. I take it that there is nothing out there that takes advantage of a quad core system….anyway…. All I want to do is layer sounds and I recently got rid of ALL my hardware on eBay and invested in tons and tons of VI’s, but quickly realized the troubles and tradeoffs of trying to run those on a DAW-specialized live system…. I hope your environment works for me live…. Are there any directions or comments on how to use what you have posted? All I want to do is layer my best plugins and trigger them all on all MIDI channels. Then I will mute those that I don’t use for a particular song so the setups are fast-er….. (they are pretty long now….) any more hints and tips would be appreciated and thanks again for sharing this stuff….. I do 99% live performance with what would otherwise be a smoking recording studio in my computer….

    Stanton,

    Yes, the template should respond to program change messages already from the Maudio 61. Just send a PC message via the instructions that come with the maudio and it should change that selector.

    I found your template very useful. now that rax is no longer available (for a short time, i hope) and doesn’t allow to use garageband’s and logic’s instruments, I have a simple question… is it possible to assign the midi program change to a specific button?
    I own the M-Audio Axiom 61 with the 8 sensitive pads and I would like to, for instance, assign the piano sound to trigger pad 1, strings sound to trigger pad 2 and so on (just like the performance buttons on a “real” keyboard), so that I could change the sounds on the fly, instead of hitting the + and - buttons… is it possible or is there another way of doing it? thanks
